1. English Class in high school

This poem describes my English class in high school. When I was in the first year of high school, I met two good teachers. One is Mr. Tomaru, the other is Ms. Takizawa. This meeting changed my sense of English learning. They thought me how to study English. Owing to that, I became to study English efficiently. Moreover, I became to like English. From that time, I have wanted to be an English teacher. I want to be like them. I wrote their detailed character and what they thought me in this poem. 2. Learning the difference between American English and British English

I took a class to understood the difference of culture among countries last year. I had not took this kind of class until I took this class. The most impressive content of this class is that I learned the difference between American English and British English. They are different at spellings and pronunciations of words. I had not paid attention to these things until then. I was surprised how American English and British English are different. It was very interesting class, so I wrote how interesting it was in this poetry. Please enjoy reading.

3. Speaking with native speakers in a trip

Last winter, I went to Asakusa with my friend. We are enjoying sightseeing. We wanted to take a picture with a view. Then, I met two foreigners. One is a gentleman, the other is a beautiful woman. We asked them to take a picture. We had nervous, but I tried to talk to them because I wanted to talk with native speakers. They were very kind. They tried to listen carefully. We could make ourselves understood, so we were very happy. In this poetry, I wrote what I and the gentleman said in detail. Please enjoy reading.

4. Taking TOEIC for the first time

I took TOEIC for the first time this January. I took it at Gunma University. We, student who belong to faculty of Education, have to take TOEIC when they are freshmen. TOEIC has two sections. One is listening section, the other is reading section. When I took reading section, I didn’t have enough time. So, I could not finish reading section. The result was returned in this April. I got 640 score. I thought that I should get higher scores to be English teacher. I want to be able to read sentences faster. I expressed my feeling with using color. Please enjoy reading.

5. Taking Eiken twice

I have Eiken grade three and two. I took grade three when I was in third year of junior high school. Then, I took grade two last year. The first-stage exam was held in Maebashi Ikuei high school. At that time, I took listening, reading and writing test. I was good at reading section. On the other hand, The second-stage exam was held in Kyoai high school. This time, I took speaking test. I had nervous when I took speaking test because I ‘m not good at speaking. Now, I want to take pre-one Eikan. Please enjoy reading.

6. Going to an English conversation school

I go to AEON every Thursday. There is near the Maebashi Station. I started going there last June. I was not good at speaking English, so I wanted to practice it. Therefore, I decided to go there. The class has 50 minuets. The teacher is a gentleman from America. Owing to it, I have a chance to talk with native speakers. Usually, we talk about what we did last weekend and what we will do this weekend, at first. Then, we talk about one topic with using a text book. I have a lot of time to speak English. I think my speaking skills improved a little because of it. My class is very interesting every week. I enjoy speaking English very much. Please enjoy reading.

7. Extensive reading

I did extensive reading last year to get an English unit. I had to read over 10,000 words a week. In addition, I had to take a quiz after I finished reading a book. Moreover, we, English major student, had to write a summary to get an unit of another English class. The goal of the total words count was over 150,000. I usually read two books which have about 5,000 words each. It was difficult for me to read over 10,000 words, to take a quiz and to write a summary a week because we were busy with any other assignment, but I tried very hard.

8. The class of linguistics

I took the class of linguistics last year. I learned the structure of sentences or words. When I was a high school student, I tried to translate English sentences into Japanese to answer questions. Then, I had a problem. It was that I could not translate because the structure of a sentence was very difficult for me. I could not understand what words are related to an adjectives or conjunction. However, I solved the problem owing to this class. Finally, I found that the thing I was interested in was linguistics. This class was very interesting. I expressed how much I loved this class in this poetry. Please enjoy reading.

9. The class of phonetics

I am taking the class of phonetics in this semester. In this class, we learn how to pronounce vowels or consonants. We use phonetic signs to express pronunciations. I have seen some phonetic signs by I take this class, but I did not know what sounds the signs expressed. However, I can understand it owing to this class. It is interesting for me to know the difference of the pronunciation. Probably, by learning about phonetics, I increase my knowledge of phonetics. Then, I may pronounce English better than ever. I think good pronunciations are very important for English teachers. Thus, I want to brush up my pronunciations. Then, please enjoy reading.

10.The class of English teaching materials

Every Tuesday, I take the class of English teaching materials. In this class, I learn how to teach English for junior high school students. In May, I did a trial lesson with my friend. It took many hours to prepare for it. Besides that, I write a guidance plan every week. It is very hard for me. However, because of this class, my opinion changed. Before taking this class, I thought all class was perfect and could not evaluate any classes. But after starting this class, I became to distinguish good classes and not ones. Now, I also think about the improvement of classes. This class will continue to next semester. So, to be a good English teacher, I want to do my best. Please enjoy reading.

Hello. I’m Yuka Kabasawa. I will introduce myself.

I’m nineteen years old. I’m a student of Gunma University. I belong to Faculty of Education, and I major in English. I was born and grew up in Gunma, Maebashi. I graduated from Maebashi girls high school. Since I was a high school student, I want to be an English teacher. To realize my dream, I study English and other subjects in my University.

My hobby is singing. I belong to an a cappella club. Do you know a cappella? It’s to sing without using any musical instruments. It’s very fun for me.

I try to balance my studies and club activity. I want to continue to lead a full life. Thank you.
